I purchased the universal bed rack base for my 2015 Tacoma. Amongst all the other bed rack options on the market the ability to use this rack and extended bases with a tonneau cover of my choosing and spend under $500 is ultimately why I decided to purchase this particular rack. Upon inspection of the final product I was mostly happy with the quality. I say mostly because upon inspection I found that where the upper crossmember supports had been welded, they were only welded on the outside face of the supports. The inside of the supports still show a non welded seam. Now whether dirtbound feels the joint is strong enough by only welding the outside of the joint seam, or there was a lack of quality control and my parts were not finished correctly is unknown to me. But as a mechanic by trade who has done a fair share of welding I would have personally welded both sides of a welded joint if they were both easily accessible, as these seams are. I will keep an eye on these areas for signs of cracking and weld myself if necessary. My only other gripe was that the carriage bolts that I received to use with the provided rail mounts were too short to properly mount the tonneau bases to, leaving me to have to go out mid project and purchase longer carriage bolts. All that being said I am happy with my bed rack, it suits my intended purposes well and I have subsequently placed an order for the dirbound Molle panels as these will tie the bed rack towers together nicely.
Had to modify a bit to fit Nissan Frontier but works good.
Nice and sturdy pretty much everything I needed.

Great rack, especially if you want to keep and use a tonneau cover. Came raw I rattled canned with black and some hammered finish and it looks amazing. I have the molle side and it is working out so well. Super great design, amazing quality and welds, such a great product. I installed on a Toyota Tacoma the rail bolts were a tad short, otherwise it fit so well and installed so easy
It looks like it will be great. I did a test fit on my F-150 and all is good. I am just finishing up painting it so it is not reinstalled yet. I will send photos once it is done. Thanks again for the great service. The delivery to Canada went very smoothly 👍
Bed rack is well made and instructions are not needed. It assembles pretty easy and it makes sense how it's put together. It's great how they include shims to fill up dead space on the rails so it sits flush once the brackets get bolted down. If you are installing this one 2020+ Jeep Gladiator then you will need to get 1.5in Castle bolts so the brackets can be bolted down properly. The rack was easy to paint with VHT chassis paint and looks great.
09/20/2023 - Great Bed Rack, very well built, solid workmanship, very nice finish. Bought the Overland Bed Rack Base with Tonneau Brackets 18" with 2 Molle Panels for my 2017 F150 (short bed). Assembling and mounting took 2 hours. It came raw steel and I gave it a coat of Corrosion Inhibitor then another coat of Black Rust-Oleum Gloss Protective Enamel = looks fantastic. If i can attach a few photos here i will. Max & his staff were very helpful.
Honestly at first when it arrived I was like “where the hell are the instructions”, mostly because of the stance but got it together. Also, yeah they came naked which was fine, I was able to find a spray can made for heavy duty low gloss from menards. Highly wcommend it, it painted on perfectly and looks like it was done professionally, it’s because it’s meant for outdoor machines. Anyways the bed rack is perfect, it looks nice and it’s pretty simple to put together, I thought I purchased a smaller one but it worked out perfect. It’s above the back window so I can see behind with no issues, but it’s not as tall that it goes over for my roof top tent.
I wanted to buy the side panels but I think they’re to expensive for side panels, if they were cheaper I would have bought them but I understand the material.
One thing I highly recommend if you’re adding a roof top tent, buy the c-clamps from either online or if you have a welding machine, cut them and put together. The smitty kit didn’t work so I had to get creative. Anyways, bed rack is solid, and looks nice.
Package arrived after about 2 weeks after I placed my order, which is much faster then other places. Didn't really need instructions, it's kind of simple to set up. I did spray paint it with bed liner, and everything still fit. So far I've had it set up for a couple weeks, and I've had to tighten everything down once, I would recommend using loctite for the bed rails they came loose after the first drive. Other then that I've had no problems and it works with the sky ridge body armor RTT.
